The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has announced that the Eldoret Bypass (A8-North Road) will be temporarily closed on Saturday, November 22, 2025, to allow the 2025 Ceder Sports Academy cycling race to take place.
The closure will affect the section between Cheplaskei Interchange and Maili Tisa (Leseru) Interchange from 6 am to 3 pm.
In a public notice, KeNHA urged motorists to use an alternative route through Eldoret City’s Central Business District, via Uganda Road, to avoid congestion.
“Motorists are advised to use the Cheplaskei–Maili Tisa (A8) Road section through the Eldoret City CBD, commonly referred to as Uganda Road,” the authority said in a notice.
Residents living along the Eldoret Bypass are urged to cooperate with traffic police and marshals deployed to manage the event.
“Residents are advised to follow guidance from traffic police officers and traffic marshals. Any inconvenience is regretted,” the notice added.
Eng. Luka Kimeli, Acting Director General of KeNHA, said the temporary closure is essential to ensure the safety of both the cyclists and the public. He encouraged road users to plan their travel in advance and exercise patience during the event.
KeNHA also provided contact channels for inquiries, including the email [email protected], the toll-free line 0800-211-244, and customer care at 0700 423 606. Updates can also be accessed on the authority’s website, www.kenha.co.ke, and social media @KeNHAKenya.
The temporary closure highlights KeNHA’s efforts to balance road management with community activities, ensuring public safety while supporting national sporting events.
Established under the Kenya Roads Act, 2007, the Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) is a state corporation under the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure responsible for the management, development, rehabilitation, and maintenance of national trunk roads in Kenya.
